Choose StepUp if…

StepUp is built for step groups of almost any size. Based on its own site, it fits best when:

  • Your group is large: a whole office, a club or a community, up to 15,000 people.
  • You want an ongoing leaderboard that runs every day, week and month, or a custom challenge of up to a year.
  • You want distance and calories on the same screen as your steps.

Choose Walk & Water if…

Walk & Water is built around a short round with a small team. It fits best when:

  • You want a finish line every week: three days, then Friday winners.
  • You want a small team of two to four where a quiet day is noticed, and where a team of two can beat a team of four because teams rank on their average.
  • You want a water goal next to your step goal.
  • You want a real coach in the round: Coach Josh walks it and answers Chat with Coach himself.

Can you use both?

Yes. StepUp says it supports wearables that sync with Apple Health or Health Connect. Walk & Water reads steps from Apple Health or Health Connect. If your other app shares with the same health hub, the same walk can count in both, and you don’t need the two apps to connect to each other.

Walk it with a team this week

Join a team of 2–4, walk & drink your water Tuesday to Thursday, and see the winners Friday.

I’m Josh. I built Get Your BMR so you could see what your body burns at rest, & I built Walk & Water so you’d have somewhere to use it with people who notice when you show up.

I walk every round too: same board, same three days, on my own team. I don’t always win. Tap Chat with Coach in the app & it’s me who answers.
