Choose Pacer if…

Pacer covers a lot of walking in one app. Based on its own site, it fits best when:

  • You want an everyday step counter that tracks your activity, with or without a challenge.
  • You want walking clubs, places to walk nearby, or virtual walking challenges.
  • You use an Apple Watch, Fitbit or Garmin, which Pacer says it supports.
  • You are organizing a larger workplace challenge (Pacer for Teams).

Choose Walk & Water if…

Walk & Water is narrower on purpose. It fits best when:

  • You want a short round you can start this week and finish by Friday.
  • You want a small team of two to four that ranks on its average, so nobody has to be the fastest walker.
  • You want water to count alongside steps.
  • You want a coach who walks the round with you and answers your messages himself.

Can you use both?

Yes. Pacer says some devices connect to it through Apple Health or Health Connect. Walk & Water reads steps from Apple Health or Health Connect. If your other app shares with the same health hub, the same walk can count in both, and you don’t need the two apps to connect to each other.

Walk it with a team this week

Join a team of 2–4, walk & drink your water Tuesday to Thursday, and see the winners Friday.

I’m Josh. I built Get Your BMR so you could see what your body burns at rest, & I built Walk & Water so you’d have somewhere to use it with people who notice when you show up.

I walk every round too: same board, same three days, on my own team. I don’t always win. Tap Chat with Coach in the app & it’s me who answers.
